What's the disagreement over all-season high performance tires?

All-Season Performance Tires

There are divided opinions on all-season sport performance tires. Some would rather avoid the extra time needed to re-outfit their vehicles with seasonal performance tires; others prefer the additional benefits of those seasonal designs. The advantages to the all-season performance tire? Special designs allow good control, quiet rides, and anti-hydroplaning features. Some types offer better cornering, while others offer improved treadwear and good snow/slush handling. That being said, all-weather tires are often rated lower because they must perform "in the middle" for all seasons. The designs prevent the all-season tires from excelling in one season or another. Some prefer seasonal high-performance tires because of the better handling in specific seasonal conditions. People who don't mind changing their performance tires when the weather changes get much better results with designs that are keyed to specific wet or dry conditions. Whichever you choose, it's good to have an understanding of the trade-off you make for convenience or handling.

When the seasons change, so should your tires. Consider a winter performance tire. Many wet-weather accidents result from skidding on bald or nearly bald tires.
